Description
Valcaldara is part of a system of typical, agricultural settlements that grew up on the plain of Santa Scolastica between the end of the Middle Ages and the first centuries of the modern era.
The monastery of Santa Maria and the church of San Giovanni were mentioned in documents back in the 14th century. Valcaldara is also mentioned in 12th century documents as belonging to the Lombardic gastaldry.
Also worthy of note as an expression of popular religion in the Valnerina is the Church of Santa Maria.
