Description
Meggiano is a small castle in the town of Vallo di Nera.
Three elements can be seen: an elliptic hill castle that preserves an entrance gate with long lateral crenels for the drawbridge (similar to the one in the castle of Geppa with 13th and 14th century ruins), a village on either side of the access road from the south and, behind the castle, the church of San Michele which overlooks a large space crossed by the current main road and lined by a few sparse houses.
Further up the hill, completely separate, lies the small village of PiediLaCosta, built around a central square. The view of the surrounding landscape and environment from this panoramic position is a truly wonderful sight.
