Description
Butino is a small village constructed at the foot of Mt. Birbone on the western edge of a low level area that stretches as far as Monteleone di Spoleto.
The settlement is related to the agriculture and to the roads in the area; in fact, the road from Monteleone forks at Butino into two roads which circle round Mt. Birbone and rejoin at Monte S. Vito before descending sharply towards the Valnerina. The more southerly route below Rocca Vetralla, remembered only in the place name, seems to have been the more popular as it ran through important places: Forca Capo la Valle, S. Leonardo and l`Immagine.
