Description

The Church of San Giovanni Battista is a small Renaissance building with a square plan and a portal from 1535, in the hamlet of Piedivalle.

Votive frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries, some of which by Paolo Marini and Giovanni Maria Seneca. On the high altar are the Madonna and Saints Eutizio and John the Baptist, a scalloped panel with the original frame, from the first half of the 16th century. On the side was the altar of St. Lucy, who was also portrayed on the wall.

Numerous works coming from the nearby Abbey of Sant`Eutizio were found in the church, including the Crucifix and Saints Spes and Eutizio (1602) and St. Anthony Abbot, canvases by Cristoforo Roncalli, better known as Pomarancio; two reliquary busts in carved and gilded wood form the 17th century; St. Eutizio enthroned, a wooden statue from the second half of the 15th century; the Madonna and St. Eutizio, 15th century.
