Poggiodomo - The Plateau of Mucciafora

To get to the starting point for this walk, drive from Mucciafora along the only road uphill which is at first a made-up road but which then becomes a dirt track in the direction of Vallo. Leave the car at the crossroads near a signpost for the church of Madonna della Pace. Continue from this point on foot following the sign for the little country church. Go past the church on your left and continue straight along the dirt track for about 700 m. Turn left at the fork and follow the dirt track downhill. After approx. 100 m turn right at the next fork and go downhill without leaving the clearly marked path. After about 500 m the path continues at first along the flat and then goes slightly uphill. At the first fork turn left and after about 500 m you come to a crossroads, where you will turn left and continue uphill. At the next fork bear left uphill. When you get to a wider dirt track, keep right and walk alongside a barbed wire fence. Continue until you reach the wide un-made road and turn left. Keep to this road and return to your starting point.
How to get there
Take the SS 470 towards Borgo Cerreto. After approx. 3.3 km turn left on to the SP 472 as far as Mucciafora. Continue uphill for approx. 5 km.
