Leave your car at the car park of Porta Spoletina, walk towards the entrance gate to the village and turn right at the road sign (showing a gradient of one in five) for a downhill road. At the bend take the dirt road on the left. Continue as far as the tarmac road and turn right at the crossroads. After approx. 700 metres turn right for Casale Nempi with its typical cylindrical silo and a few metres on, turn left at an oak tree. Go past a group of houses and you will find yourself opposite a gate (with the initials A -T) and turn right, then right again at the second fork. Continue as far as the fountain and when you get to a villa (street number 18), turn left. Keep to the left and go past a small villa with a red gate on your right, Turn left near the entrance to a farmhouse and go past a barbed wire gate. To your right you will see the church of Madonna di Castelvecchio. From here retrace your steps as far as the fork and turn left at the fountain and villa (street number 18) and follow a trail signpost. Continue along a pleasant path as far as the main road, turn left here and after a short climb return to the car park.
How to get there
Exit from the SS 209 at Sant’Anatolia di Narco and take the SS 471. Follow the SS 320 from Cascia to Norcia and then the SS 471 towards Leonessa.
