Cascia - The Plateau of Ocosce
Lenght: Km 5 (Round trips)
Difficulty: Beginners
Duration: Less then 2 hours
Interesting: Nature - Hike
The walk begins at the gate to the town and from there you follow the main road downhill to reach the shrine by the side of the road. Go past the shrine on the right and after a few metres turn right along a path shaded by oak trees. After a short stretch the path narrows and continues clearly as far as the inhabited area known as “la Chiusa”. At the bend before the farmhouses take the road running downhill to the left to return to the main road. Turn right at the SS 471 and continue for approx. 1.4 km as far as a turning off to the right marked by a trail sign on the wall (a red and white flag). Follow the track and continue across the plain where you can find numerous archaeological remains. After less than 1 km the path rises orologi replica gently and at a fork marked with a hiker’s sign, if you turn left you reach the hamlet of Castellano and you can enjoy an incredible view of Roccaporena, whereas at the fork the path continues straight on, keeping slightly to the right to return to Ocosce. After walking through exceptionally beautiful countryside you reach the shrine and from here you return to your starting point.
How to get there from Cascia
Take the SS 471 towards Monteleone di Spoleto, after approx. 4.5 km turn right to go uphill to the town.
